ElPozo Alimentación implements sustainability roadmap in Spain
Spanish food company ElPozo Alimentación has implemented a strategic roadmap focused on environmental efficiency, good governance, and social responsibility. The company, which operates in over 80 international markets, reported a 34% reduction in its verified direct carbon footprint between 2021 and 2025, exceeding its initial decarbonization targets by nine percentage points.
To achieve these goals, the Murcia-based firm has introduced several energy efficiency initiatives. These include a residual heat recovery system to reuse thermal energy from industrial processes and the use of biogas from its treatment plant to generate heat. Additionally, the company has adopted a circular water model, reusing 100% of its wastewater for the irrigation of nearby plots.
