Elsa de León resigns as Dominican Consul in Hamburg

Elsa de León has announced her resignation as the Dominican Republic's Consul General in Hamburg, Germany. Speaking to reporters at the National Congress, De León stated that the decision stems from a lack of institutional support and insufficient personnel to perform her duties.

De León remarked that the Hamburg consulate “simply does not work,” noting that she has lacked the necessary backing to fulfill her role since September 30 of last year. Despite her criticism of the consulate's operational state, she spoke highly of the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, calling him “a star,” and praised President Luis Abinader’s commitment to effective governance.

De León, who was appointed in March of last year, previously served in various public roles, including the Samaná Governorate and the Chamber of Deputies. As of the announcement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Executive Branch have not issued official comments regarding her resignation.
