Elsie Appau-Klu of Ghana Revenue Authority Wins Public Policy Governance Award in London
Technical Advisor Elsie Appau‑Klu of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) was honoured with the Excellence in Public Policy and Governance Award at the 16th African Achievers Awards. The ceremony took place at the historic House of Lords in London and was hosted by Lords Baroness Verma and Baron Simon Woolley.
The award recognises Appau‑Klu’s leadership in modernising Ghana’s tax administration and improving voluntary compliance, part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening public institutions and domestic resource mobilisation. In her acceptance remarks, she emphasised that the accolade belongs to the entire GRA team and Ghanaian taxpayers, and highlighted the role of sound public policy in enabling African nations to fund their own development.
The recognition reflects growing international attention on Ghana’s governance reforms and underscores the importance of institutional capacity for tax compliance and economic development across Africa.
