Elísio Medrado City Council approves teacher salary floor and education restructuring

The Elísio Medrado City Council has unanimously approved legislation aimed at improving conditions for municipal education professionals and restructuring the local education department.

Project of Law No. 010/2026 establishes a professional salary floor for teachers, ensuring no municipal educator receives less than the national minimum of R$ 5,130.63 for a 40-hour work week. Legal counsel Eliane Carigé noted that while the administration of Mayor Lismar Moura had already been meeting these payments, the new law formalizes this right.

Additionally, Project of Law No. 009/2026 reorganizes the administrative structure of the Municipal Education Secretariat. This includes creating new positions and adjusting staff numbers to meet current pedagogical needs and the growth of the municipal school network. The measures have been forwarded to the mayor for immediate sanction.
