Elton John identifies 36 years of sobriety as his greatest achievement
Sir Elton John has identified his 36 years of sobriety as one of his greatest life achievements. The 79-year-old musician, who has sold over 300 million records and achieved EGOT status, stated in an interview with HELLO! magazine that he nearly lost everything due to addiction before quitting alcohol and drugs in 1990.
In addition to reflecting on his career and personal growth, the singer discussed his recent business venture with his husband, David Furnish. The pair launched a non-alcoholic sparkling wine, Elton John Zero Blanc de Blancs, designed for hosting guests without the consumption of alcohol.
Despite concluding his massive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in 2023, John continues to make occasional appearances, including recent performances at festivals like Rock in Rio. He expressed continued passion for music and noted that engaging with new artists helps keep him inspired.
