Elton John refuses Prince Harry's financial aid requests
Elton John has reportedly turned down repeated requests from Prince Harry for financial assistance. Sources say the singer, who has long been a friend of the late Princess Diana, grew impatient after Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020, asked him to help cover legal costs and other expenses linked to Harry’s recent lawsuit against the Daily Mail.
Harry and six other claimants sued the newspaper over alleged phone hacking and illegal surveillance from the 1990s to 2011. After the case was dismissed by the UK Supreme Court in July, Harry’s finances have been strained, prompting him to approach John for support. According to a source, John responded, "I'm not an ATM," indicating he will not act as a financial guarantor for the Sussex couple.
The tension has become visible at recent events in Europe and North America, with both parties keeping public statements limited. The dispute highlights the broader financial challenges faced by Harry and Meghan as they pursue commercial ventures independent of the British royal family.
