Elton John to perform at Rock in Rio following massive farewell tour

Elton John is returning to the stage for a performance at the Rock in Rio festival in Brazil, despite having previously embarked on a massive farewell tour. The “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which ran from 2018 to 2023, consisted of 330 shows and grossed approximately $939 million, making it one of the highest-grossing tours in music history.

The 79-year-old singer had intended to retire from touring to spend more time with family and due to progressive vision loss. However, his upcoming appearance in Rio de Janeiro marks his third time at the festival and follows a period of continued musical activity, including the release of the film “Rocketman” and various new musical projects.
