Elvas marks local anniversaries and mourns fadista Sónia Santos

The municipality of Elvas is marking several local cultural and community milestones. During the 79th anniversary of Elvas Clube Alentejano de Desportos, Mayor José Rondão Almeida highlighted the institution's historical importance to the city's identity and its recent return to national sports competitions.

Additionally, the municipality expressed deep condolences following the death of fadista Sónia Santos at age 46. A native of Elvas, Santos was a recognized voice in fado music, having recorded singles with Universal Music and participated in various television programs. The community is also observing the Festas de São Vicente e Ventosa, a traditional celebration held in honor of Nossa Senhora do Rosário.
