Elvas municipality proposes new security measures
The Elvas City Council has announced a series of measures aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing crime, with a specific focus on nighttime security. The municipality has formally requested the installation of a video surveillance system to cover the city's Historic Center, a project that is currently awaiting authorization from the relevant authorities.
Additionally, the local government intends to include the recruitment of six night guards in its 2027 Grand Options of the Plan. These guards would begin their shifts at 22:00, conducting patrols in vehicles along predefined routes throughout the city and its neighborhoods. To ensure efficient responses, these municipal guards will maintain a direct link with the Public Security Police (PSP).
