Elvas, Portugal hosts music and cultural festivities at Festa na Praça

On Saturday 18 July 2026, the second and final day of the Festa na Praça took place in Praça da República, Elvas, under the patronage of the retail chain Continente. The event featured a parade by the percussion group Bomb’Alen of the Sociedade Recreativa 1° de Dezembro, followed by a performance from the Grupo Infantil de Cante Alentejano da Banda 14 de Janeiro. The evening’s highlight was a concert by Alentejo singer Luís Trigacheiro, after which DJ Daniel Costa closed the programme with a mix of Portuguese and Latin music. In addition to live music, the festival offered street‑food stalls, craft markets, and dedicated areas for children and pets.

The weekend also showcased Mediterranean culture through the 34th edition of the Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas. A Tunisian culinary workshop was held at the Mercado Municipal da Casa das Barcas, led by chef Ameur Bouchmel, who taught participants to prepare Oujja aux crevettes and the fish specialty Kabkabou. The following day a free concert by singer‑composer Ziad Trabelsi is scheduled at the MAEE museum courtyard. Meanwhile, the APPACDM of Elvas inaugurated the Sabores da Inclusão space at the same market, offering a community hub for light meals and social interaction.
