Elvia Cabrera Rivera sentenced to 102 years for murder in Puerto Rico

Elvia Cabrera Rivera has been sentenced to 102 years in prison for the murder of 16-year-old Gabriela Nicole Pratts Rosario. The sentence consists of 99 years for first-degree murder and three years for violating the Weapons Law, to be served consecutively.

The crime occurred in August 2025 in the town of Aibonito following a physical altercation that left two minors injured. Pratts Rosario died after receiving 11 stab wounds. During the trial, witnesses testified that Cabrera Rivera produced a sharp object from her bag and handed it to her daughter, Anthonieska Avilés Cabrera, who allegedly stabbed the victim.

Justice Secretary Lourdes L. Gómez Torres stated that the sentence is a direct consequence of an act of extreme violence. The court also ordered the payment of special penalties and credited time served under preventive detention, while rejecting defense requests to waive the weapons law sentence.
