ELYZA launches research unit for Recursive Self-Improvement AI

ELYZA, an AI startup born from the University of Tokyo and now part of the KDDI Group, has announced the establishment of ‘ELYZA RSI Research’. This specialized organization focuses on Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI), a technology where AI identifies its own weaknesses and rewrites its own programs or instructions to enhance performance.

The company aims to accelerate AI development to keep pace with global frontier models. ELYZA reported initial successes using RSI-related techniques, including standardizing the development process to compress human intervention to just one or two days, automating evaluation processes, and improving task completion rates in demonstration experiments from 34.3% to 52.9% while reducing computational costs by 67%.

In addition to research, ELYZA is launching ‘ELYZA Voice Agent’, an AI agent capable of handling end-to-end business tasks through voice dialogue, such as identity verification, contract changes, and database updates. The company intends to expand these services into contact centers, medical, and manufacturing sectors.
