Emanuel Mammana shows favorable progress after serious injury

Vélez Sarsfield defender Emanuel Mammana is showing favorable clinical progress following a severe injury sustained during a match against Newell’s Old Boys. The injury occurred during a collision with goalkeeper Tomás Marchiori, resulting in multiple rib fractures and a pneumothorax.

Following the impact, Mammana underwent emergency surgery to place a pleural drainage tube. While he was initially kept in intensive care as a precaution, the club reported that his condition has stabilized. Recent medical updates from Vélez indicate that surgical intervention for the rib fractures may no longer be necessary, and doctors expect to remove the chest tube within the next 24 to 48 hours.
