Emanuele Sicilia releases horror novel 'L’Ombra del Muretto' set in 1994 Domitian Coast

Italian author Emanuele Sicilia has published a new supernatural thriller titled “L’Ombra del Muretto. Sangue e Salsedine a Pinetamare”. The novel is set in August 1994 on the Domitian coast, mainly in the towns of Pinetamare and Castel Volturno.

The story follows a group of adolescents whose summer is shattered when a ten‑year‑old mystery about a missing child, known as the “Uomo in Bianco”, resurfaces. Supernatural phenomena—radio frequencies spiralling out of control, jukeboxes spewing blood, arcade cabinets seemingly coming to life—serve as metaphors for the loss of innocence and the difficult passage to adulthood. The narrative blends nostalgia for the 1980s‑90s era with horror influences from Stephen King and contemporary series like Stranger Things.

Sicilia, born in Naples in 1981 and now living in Pinetamare, works as a physical‑education teacher and personal trainer. With this novel, he aims to combine horror, coming‑of‑age themes, and a vivid portrayal of the Italian coastal landscape.
