Rocket League to migrate to Unreal Engine 6 by 2027

Rocket League is undergoing significant technical and competitive transformations. Psyonix has announced that the game will migrate to Unreal Engine 6, a transition expected to begin in 2027. Professional players are already participating in testing to help redesign and fine-tune the next-generation version of the title.

In the immediate term, Season 24 launches on September 23, featuring a street racing theme. Key updates include the ‘Honor Duel’ mechanic, allowing players to challenge opponents to 1v1 matches immediately following a game. The season also introduces a Persona 5 crossover event from September 25 to October 12, offering themed rewards and vehicles. Other features include the Black Market Trade-In system and improved mouse and keyboard controls.

The competitive landscape, RLCS, is also set for a major overhaul in 2027. This includes a planned kickoff event in London at the Copper Box Arena in December 2026, which is expected to host 24 teams. Epic Games and BLAST are reportedly preparing a new partnership program and circuit organization to coincide with the engine migration.
