Embark Studios considers splitting ARC Raiders into PvE and PvP modes
Embark Studios is considering splitting the game ARC Raiders into separate PvE (Player vs. Environment) and PvP (Player vs. Player) modes to address community feedback. Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal stated that while this shift might deviate from the current design, the studio is willing to respect how players want to experience the game.
To evaluate this possibility, a limited PvE test will run from October 13 to October 20. During this period, players can opt into matchmaking where Raiders cannot damage one another. The test will include solo, duo, and trio sessions, though high-level activities like Night Raids and the Frigate will be excluded.
Data from Embark indicates a divided player base: 37% prefer cooperative play, 34% prefer pure PvP, and 27% switch between both. Notably, 51% of players desire a PvE-only option, and 40% of those interested in PvP expressed a desire for less hostile combat. While the studio acknowledges that splitting the player base presents technical challenges, the upcoming test is intended to gather essential data for future implementation.
