ARC Raiders to test PvE mode and launch Frozen Trail update

Embark Studios has announced a series of major updates for its extraction shooter, ARC Raiders. The studio is launching a temporary PvE matchmaking test from October 13 to October 20, allowing players to opt into sessions where player-to-player damage is disabled. This decision follows player data showing that 37% of the community prefers cooperative play, with 51% expressing interest in a dedicated PvE option.

During the PvE test, players can engage in solo, duo, or trio sessions focused on fighting ARC machines and completing quests. To balance the reduced risk, loot values will be lower, and certain high-tension map conditions like Night Raids and Hidden Bunkers will be excluded. The test is intended to gather data on matchmaking and the in-game economy and does not guarantee a permanent PvE mode.

Additionally, the studio is preparing the Frozen Trail update, scheduled for release on October 8, 2026. This major expansion will introduce the Pendola Pass map, featuring new enemies, dynamic weather conditions such as Flash Freezes, and expanded progression. The update also introduces a new Reward Pass system, replacing the previous free Raider Deck model with a tiered Free and Premium Pass structure.
