Embodied intelligence shifts toward practical scenario deployment
The field of embodied intelligence is shifting from theoretical vision to practical scenario implementation, as highlighted by developments at the 2026 World Robot Conference. While industry investment remains high, with 93.5 billion yuan in financing in the first half of the year, a significant portion of robots are still utilized for research and demonstration rather than continuous production.
Technological advancements are addressing the critical issue of inference speed in Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models. A new framework, AC²-VLA (Action-Context-Aware Adaptive Computation), aims to solve high latency by using robot action states to guide computation. By utilizing mechanisms such as cognition caching, visual token pruning, and layer skipping, the framework can improve inference speeds by up to 1.79 times, allowing robots to react more effectively to their environments.
Industry players are currently targeting three main sectors: industrial/logistics, which offers clear ROI through standardized tasks; commercial settings like hotels and retail, which require integration into existing service systems; and home environments, which present the highest complexity due to unstructured settings and unpredictable human interaction. The ultimate goal for these enterprises is to move beyond custom projects toward scalable, generalizable intelligence that can adapt to new tasks with minimal data.
