Embraer and Mahindra Group target Nagpur for C-390 assembly
Embraer and Mahindra Group are advancing plans to establish an industrial ecosystem for the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft in India. The partnership has identified Nagpur, in the state of Maharashtra, as a potential site for a Final Assembly Line.
The project is part of the companies' joint pursuit of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme. If the Indian government selects the C-390 Millennium and places an order, the proposed facility would support local assembly, system integration, and the development of a domestic supply chain.
Working with the Government of Maharashtra, the partners aim to build robust aerospace and defense capabilities aligned with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. The collaboration, which began with a memorandum of understanding in February 2024, seeks to foster indigenous manufacturing, technology transfer, and long-term maintenance and support services within the country.
