Embraer opens its first Mexican manufacturing plant in Chihuahua, creating 1,200 jobs

Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer inaugurated its first wholly‑owned manufacturing facility in Mexico, located in the state of Chihuahua. The plant, formerly operated as a joint venture with Safran, now belongs to Embraer México after the company acquired the remaining 50 % of the EzAir plant. It will employ more than 1,200 workers directly and will produce cabin‑interior components – overhead luggage bins, galleys, lavatories and floor panels – for the E‑Jet family of commercial aircraft.

The opening ceremony was attended by Chihuahua Governor María Eugenia Campos Galván, who pledged state support for the project. Production from the facility is destined for international markets including Brazil, the United States, France and Singapore. The investment strengthens Chihuahua’s role in Mexico’s aerospace sector, which accounts for roughly 36 % of national aerospace output and generates over US$2 billion in exports. Embraer, with a global workforce of more than 23,000, is the world’s third‑largest commercial aircraft producer after Boeing and Airbus.
