Abra Group signs up to 45 Embraer E195‑E2 jets, boosting Latin American connectivity

Abra Group, the Brazilian holding that controls Gol, Avianca and Wamos Air, announced a multi‑year agreement with Embraer at the Farnborough International Airshow. The deal includes a firm order for 20 E195‑E2 jets – the largest model in Embraer’s E‑Jet family – with options for 10 additional aircraft and purchase rights for 15 more, giving the holding the ability to acquire up to 45 aircraft. Deliveries are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, and the order is valued at roughly US$1.2‑1.75 billion, depending on the final number of jets exercised. The new fleet is expected to increase flexibility on regional routes across Latin America, opening new connections and allowing higher flight frequencies on markets where larger aircraft would be uneconomical.

In a related strategic partnership, Abra Group and Etihad Airways signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve connectivity between Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. The MoU outlines plans for codeshare, loyalty‑program integration and a potential dry‑lease of an Airbus A330‑900 by November 2026. The partnership aims to give Abra’s passengers access to Etihad’s global hub in Abu Dhabi while expanding Etihad’s reach into the Latin American market.
