Embraer subsidiary Eve Air Mobility targets 2028 for eVTOL operations

Embraer subsidiary Eve Air Mobility has accumulated 2,700 orders for its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, with an estimated value of US$ 5 million per unit. The total order value is estimated at US$ 13.5 billion. The aircraft features an 80 to 85 km range and a charging system designed to provide one minute of flight time for every minute of charging.

In Brazil, companies are studying the infrastructure required for commercial operations, specifically in the São Paulo metropolitan area. PAX Aeroportos and UrbanV have identified priority areas for a network of five to ten vertiports, including Alphaville, Berrini, Faria Lima, Expo Imigrantes, and Campo de Marte. The strategy involves adapting existing helipads into electrified vertiports to reduce initial investment costs.

While interest from manufacturers and operators is growing, the primary obstacle remains the lack of certified aircraft, which is necessary to validate business models, maintenance costs, and operational tests. Certification is expected by 2028, with the first deliveries planned shortly thereafter.
