Embrapa develops digital tools for organic farming and beef traceability
Embrapa is developing new digital tools to modernize Brazilian agricultural management and traceability. One initiative involves a mobile application designed specifically for organic food producers to assist in the participatory certification process. To ensure usability for farmers with low digital literacy, the project focuses on intuitive design and is undergoing testing through workshops in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.
Additionally, the agency has launched ‘Embrapa Trace – Bovino de Corte,’ a technological platform aimed at strengthening the traceability of beef production. The system uses an API to integrate information across the supply chain, including environmental and sanitary requirements. A key feature is the issuance of a digital compliance summary via QR Code, which provides auditable evidence of sustainability to facilitate access to demanding international markets.
