Eight students from the EMEB Profª Lúcia Leite Rodrigues municipal school have qualified for the second phase of the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools (OBMEP).
The qualifying students include Enzo Manoel Dantas da Silva, Nicolly Pereira Leandro, and Thayllison da Rocha Silva from the 6th grade; Rian Pereira do Nascimento from the 7th grade; and Kemilly Regina da Silva Elias, Kevillyn Julia da Silva Arruda, Nycollas Rafael Santos de Souza, and Victor Hugo Teixeira de Amorim from the 9th grade.
School director Valéria Martins noted that the competition serves as a significant motivator for both students and teachers. The OBMEP is a national project conducted by the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) with support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation. Medalists from public schools may become eligible for the IMPA Junior Scientific Initiation Program, which provides monthly stipends through CNPq.
The second phase of the competition is scheduled for October 17 in Várzea Grande, with results expected on December 15.
