Emedé Valladolid triathlon to feature elite athletes and cause traffic disruptions

The inaugural Emedé Valladolid triathlon is set to take place this Saturday, marking the return of middle-distance competitions to the Castilla y León region. The event features a high-profile start list, with a primary competitive focus on the duel between Mikel Ugarte, who is preparing for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, and Nacho Gálvez, the current Spanish middle-distance champion.

The competition consists of three stages: swimming, cycling, and running. The swimming leg will take place at Playa de las Moreras, followed by a 90-kilometer cycling circuit that travels through Valladolid and surrounding areas including Zaratán, Villanubla, Villalba de los Alcores, Peñaflor de Hornija, and Wamba. The running portion will involve three 7-kilometer laps starting from Plaza del Milenio.

Due to the event, significant traffic disruptions are expected throughout the city from morning until evening. Road closures and circulation changes will affect various routes, including Avenida Miguel Ángel Blanco, Avenida Sánchez Arjona, and areas near the Puente de Poniente and Plaza San Nicolás.
