Emelec pays $400,000 to lift FIFA bans, still faces five registration restrictions

Club Sport Emelec in Ecuador has paid more than US$400,000 to settle outstanding debts, allowing the removal of two of its seven active FIFA sanctions. The payment clears the way for most new signings to be eligible for the upcoming LigaPro match against Aucas, with the exception of forward Teodoro Arce, who still lacks a required document.

The club, overseen by president José Jiménez and coached by Cristian Nasuti, continues to carry five FIFA registration bans linked to earlier financial claims. These remaining restrictions are listed on FIFA’s portal and are expected to be lifted shortly, which would fully restore the team’s ability to register new players for the rest of the season.
