Emelec receives FIFA transfer ban for three periods
Emelec has received two new sanctions from FIFA, resulting in a ban on registering new players for three transfer periods. This decision, issued on August 18, significantly complicates the Guayaquil-based club's sporting planning.
The sanctions follow a period of relative progress for the institution; on August 4, the club had successfully lifted seven previous FIFA prohibitions, which had allowed them to begin registering new reinforcements.
The current restrictions stem from claims regarding unpaid wages. Specifically, former technical staff members Leonel Álvarez and Stefano Álvarez have filed claims for outstanding payments owed by the club.
