EMEP Leader Seyit Aslan criticizes Turkish government at Kayseri congress

Seyit Aslan, Chairman of the Labour Party (EMEP), addressed the 11th Ordinary Congress of the EMEP Kayseri Provincial Organization, where İrfan Çağlar was elected as the new provincial chairman. During the event, which was attended by representatives from various unions and the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), Aslan criticized the current administration regarding economic inequality, labor rights, and political freedoms.

Aslan highlighted rising poverty and occupational fatalities, noting that 110 workers had died in the region over the last three years. He characterized the upcoming 2027 budget draft as a mechanism to transfer taxes collected from workers and the poor to capital through interest payments, incentives, and subsidies, totaling over 9 trillion lira.

Furthermore, Aslan condemned the suppression of media and political voices, alleging that the government uses pressure and violence to silence opposition. He also voiced opposition to the Mecca Pact, claiming it serves to protect Saudi Arabian oil and US interests in the Middle East.
