Emerenciano Sena hospitalized after 12-day hunger strike

Emerenciano Sena, convicted of life imprisonment for the femicide of his daughter-in-law Cecilia Strzyzowski, has been hospitalized at Hospital Julio C. Perrando following a 12-day hunger strike. The former social leader began the protest on September 20 at the Provincial Penitentiary Complex No. 1, resulting in an estimated weight loss of seven kilograms and a deterioration of vital signs.

Sena’s defense argues that his pre-existing conditions, including severe diabetes, hypertension, and cardiac issues, are exacerbated by the prison's sanitary and structural conditions. Legal representatives have requested a transfer to house arrest and specialized medical care, though previous judicial rulings have maintained his detention in the Resistencia penal facility.
