Apeldoorn apartment building evacuated after suspected drug lab discovery

Police in Apeldoorn have evacuated approximately 100 homes on Eburonenstraat following the discovery of a suspected drug laboratory. The incident began in the early hours of Wednesday after authorities responded to reports of firework disturbances.

During the investigation, officers discovered various weapons and a situation indicating the presence of a drug lab. A resident was arrested at the scene. Several police officers required medical attention after being exposed to a chemical odor, though no hospitalizations were necessary.

Specialized units, including the Landelijke Faciliteit Ontmantelen (LFO) and the Explosives Disposal Service of the Defense, have been deployed to manage the site and assess the danger posed by potential explosives and hazardous substances. Residents remain unable to return to their homes while the investigation continues.
