Emergency medical services partially restored in Cerignola and Torremaggiore
Emergency medical services (118) are being partially restored in parts of the Foggia province in Puglia, Italy. In Cerignola, the ASL Foggia has announced that a second 118 station will be reinstated starting October 16. This station will operate for 12 hours a day, from 8:00 to 20:00, following discussions between municipal administration and health authorities to address the needs of the large territory.
Similarly, in Torremaggiore, the India 2 ambulance has returned to service on a 12-hour daily schedule. While the restoration is welcomed, the Comitato Salute dell’Alto Tavoliere della Puglia has expressed caution, noting that the station previously operated 24 hours a day. The committee is calling for a clear timeline to return to full 24-hour coverage and is urging the Puglia Region to initiate urgent recruitment of medical personnel to address shortages in emergency-urgency services.
