Emergency Responders Assist Home Births in Mexico and Chile

In the municipality of Colón, Mexico, civil protection personnel responded to a call about a woman in labor. While transporting her in an ambulance, the birth became imminent near the community of Galeras. The responders prepared the ambulance for delivery, and a healthy baby was born at 06:50. Both mother and newborn were transferred to a gynecological emergency unit in stable condition.

In Coquimbo, Chile, Carabineros police officers were dispatched after a distress call about an advanced labor situation in a home. The officers, using first‑aid training, assisted the delivery of a baby for a mother identified as Claudia, who was alone with her six‑year‑old daughter. The newborn and mother were later stabilized by SAMU medical staff and transferred to a local health center, where they remain in excellent health.
