Emergency responders conduct earthquake simulation in Mosbach

Approximately 150 emergency responders from the Main-Taunus-Kreis participated in the ‘Breakpoint 2026’ disaster preparedness exercise in Mosbach, Baden-Württemberg, from September 18 to 20. The drill focused on cross-organizational cooperation and the ability to deploy to remote areas following a major disaster.

The simulation involved a magnitude 6.9 earthquake centered in the Odenwald region, resulting in damaged buildings, disrupted infrastructure, and failures in electricity, gas, water, and mobile communications. Responders practiced searching for missing persons, creating access to collapsed structures, and managing aftershocks under realistic conditions.
