National holidays trigger security and travel measures in Mexico, Honduras, and Argentina
Various nations are implementing security and logistical measures for upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
In Mexico, cities including Morelia, San Luis Potosí, and Mérida are preparing for festivities. Morelia has deployed 4,800 security personnel and established six pedestrian access points with metal detectors and X-ray machines. San Luis Potosí is hosting community events in the Plaza de Armas, while Mérida has initiated road closures in its historic center to prepare for the ceremony and a musical performance by La Adictiva. In Puebla, over 1,300 state police officers are part of an integrated land-air operation to protect families.
Honduras is also preparing for its 205th anniversary of independence. In Tegucigalpa, authorities have established strict entry protocols at the National Stadium, prohibiting weapons, sharp objects, and alcohol. A 'dry law' (Ley Seca) will be enforced near the stadium and Suyapa Boulevard from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on September 15. The celebrations are expected to drive significant tourism and economic activity, particularly in coastal regions like Puerto Cortés and Tela.
In Argentina, authorities are managing travel following heavy snow in the Calchaquí Corridor. On Route 307, between Tafí del Valle and Amaicha del Valle, traffic is being restored through a restricted system of three vehicles per turn due to lingering ice and snow on the roadway.
