Emergency response training initiatives launched in Italy

Various specialized emergency response training programs have been initiated in Italy to enhance the capabilities of first responders and civil protection volunteers.

In Biella, Civil Protection volunteers participated in a training course focused on barrier-free rescue. Proposed by the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UICI) of Piedmont and funded by the Piedmont Region, the program provided tools and operational procedures for assisting individuals with visual impairments during critical situations. The training included practical simulations where volunteers used blindfolds and specialized glasses to experience the challenges of evacuation and orientation from the perspective of a person with visual disabilities.

In Trapani-Birgi, the 37th Wing of the Italian Air Force launched a training program for approximately 70 medical and military personnel. Organized by the Centro Soccorso Emergency, the course focuses on BLSD protocols for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillator use, as well as PHTC protocols for managing polytraumatized patients. The training is led by Tony Alestra, an expert in extra-hospital emergency care, to ensure rapid and precise intervention in complex environments.
