Emergency responses in Germany for waste facility fire and ICE train door failure

In Mainz-Weisenau, Germany, a large fire broke out at a waste management facility during the night. A large waste shredder was completely destroyed by the flames. Emergency services, including professional and volunteer fire departments, responded to the scene after smoke was reported around 11:30 PM. Firefighters used water cannons to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby storage halls and waste piles. While residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke, no direct danger was reported. The operation lasted until approximately 4:00 AM.

In a separate incident near Wiesenfeld, Germany, an ICE train traveling from Munich to Dortmund experienced a door opening at approximately 200 km/h. The driver initiated an emergency brake, and the train was carrying 238 passengers. A large-scale search operation involving the Federal Police, Bavarian State Police, drones, helicopters with thermal imaging, and canine units was conducted along the tracks between Rohrbach and the Schönrain-Tunnel to check for any persons who may have fallen. No injuries were reported, and authorities are currently questioning passengers to investigate the cause of the door failure.
