Emergency services conduct first aid and life support training in Portugal and Brazil

Various emergency services are conducting first aid and life support training initiatives in Portugal and Brazil.

In Felgueiras, Portugal, the Bombeiros Voluntários de Felgueiras, in collaboration with the Unidade Local de Saúde do Tâmega e Sousa, organized a regional awareness campaign titled ‘Eleven Municipalities. One Heart’. The initiative aimed to teach Basic Life Support (BLS) maneuvers to recognize cardiorespiratory arrest and contact emergency services. The program included online training for over 2,700 high school students across 35 schools and public demonstrations of chest compressions in town squares.

In Volta Redonda, Brazil, the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (Smas) held a first aid workshop specifically for families participating in the Family Foster Care Service. Conducted by Fire Department officers, the training focused on emergency procedures for children and adolescents, including managing choking incidents and maintaining victim safety until professional medical help arrives.
