Emergency services conduct large-scale forest fire drill in Varese

A complex multi-agency simulation, titled Monte Legnone 2026, is being conducted on October 24 and 25 in the Varese region. The exercise involves approximately 200 forest fire volunteers working alongside the Vigili del Fuoco, Carabinieri Forestali, and various mountain communities and regional parks.

The drill aims to test coordination and advanced technologies used in fighting forest fires, including satellite communication systems, radio networks, drones, and specialized cartography software. Teams are practicing simultaneous interventions on multiple fronts, utilizing techniques such as flame containment, reconnaissance, and the deployment of fire modules via land or helicopter.
