Emergency services conduct rescues for paraglider in Spain and climber in Argentina

Two separate mountain and outdoor sports accidents required emergency rescue operations in Spain and Argentina.

In Olvera, Spain, a 55-year-old man was injured after falling while paragliding in an olive grove on Thursday afternoon. Emergency services, including the Guardia Civil, local police, firefighters, and medical teams, coordinated to locate and evacuate the individual. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to the Hospital de la Serranía de Ronda.

In Argentina, a climber named Guillermo Navarro was rescued from the Fitz Roy massif in Los Glaciares National Park. After falling in a technical high-mountain sector known as the Brecha de los Italianos, Navarro sustained head injuries, cervical pain, and a fractured wrist. A rescue team consisting of volunteers from the El Chaltén Rescue Commission and national park brigadiers provided first aid and assisted his descent. The operation lasted over ten hours before he was transferred to a medical post in El Chaltén.
