Emergency services respond to fatal accidents in Poland and Czech Republic
A series of accidents and emergency incidents have been reported across Poland and the Czech Republic. In the Tatra Mountains, difficult weather conditions including snow and ice led to multiple mountain rescue operations by TOPR. These included a fatal fall from the Zawrat pass and several other injuries involving tourists.
In the Czech Republic, a 51-year-old Polish skydiver died near Klatovy after a parachute malfunction during a group jump from approximately 4,000 meters.
Other regional reports include a 67-year-old woman rescued by police in the Mucharz forest after losing her way, a 16-year-old boy who died after falling from the 12th floor of a building in Krakow, and a senior citizen who lost 35,000 PLN to a telephone scam. Additionally, local authorities in Hrubieszów acquired a new modern ambulance, and officials in Turek are advocating for a fourth emergency medical team to improve local safety.
