Emergency teams mobilize across UK ahead of winter weather and Storm Boelo
Emergency response teams and highways crews are preparing for severe weather across parts of the United Kingdom. In Northern Ireland, authorities are mobilizing road maintenance crews, volunteer rescue teams, and emergency contractors in anticipation of Storm Boelo. The storm is expected to bring strong winds and disruption, with amber wind warnings issued for Antrim and Derry. Officials have advised residents to avoid swollen rivers, flooded roads, and dangerous waterways.
In Cheshire East, the highways team has activated 24/7 monitoring to manage potential flooding, storms, snow, and ice. The council has deployed 21 gritters and more than 5,200 tonnes of salt to manage road conditions. Seventeen pre-planned gritting routes, covering approximately 40 per cent of the borough’s road network, will prioritize key roads and access to essential services based on traffic levels and safety data.
