Emerson awarded BP contract for Shah Deniz Compression project
BP has awarded Emerson a multi-million-dollar contract to provide automation technologies for the $2.9 billion Shah Deniz Compression project located off the coast of Azerbaijan in the Caspian Sea.
Emerson will supply integrated control and safety systems, including the DeltaV Distributed Control System and DeltaV Safety Instrumented System. These technologies are intended to enhance production, safety, and reliability for the new offshore compression platform. The facility will feature four 11MW compressors and serve as a central hub for gas from the Shah Deniz Alpha and Bravo platforms.
The project involves an electrically powered, normally unattended offshore production platform designed to access low-pressure gas reserves and maximize recovery. Operations will be managed remotely from BP’s onshore Sangachal terminal, situated 55 km south of Baku. Emerson’s solution also incorporates cloud engineering services and digital twin technology to facilitate virtual testing and system integration.
