Infrastructure projects cause regional traffic diversions in Mexico, Guatemala, and Ecuador

Various regions in Latin America are implementing significant traffic modifications and infrastructure changes.

In Querétaro, Mexico, roadworks for the Mexico-Querétaro Train have triggered a contraflow operation on Bernardo Quintana near the Fray Junípero Serra bridge. This complex traffic scheme is expected to last between eight and 10 days, requiring drivers to reduce speeds and follow new lane assignments.

In Guatemala City, Emetra has introduced a mobility plan to mitigate the impact of Aerometro construction works. This includes the implementation of three new reversible lanes—specifically on the Periférico, Bulevar Liberación, and the La Castellana ramp—to manage high vehicle volumes during peak hours.

In Quito, Ecuador, the Municipality is conducting road rehabilitation on the Panamericana Norte between the Carcelén and Carapungo roundabouts. Due to pavement replacement, three lanes at the Carapungo interchange will close from August 7 to August 11, necessitating detours for both light and heavy vehicles.
