Emil Audero praised by Rayo Vallecano after ASEAN Cup victory

Indonesia national team goalkeeper Emil Audero Mulyadi has received praise from Rayo Vallecano coach Beñat San José following his pivotal role in Indonesia winning the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.

In the tournament final against Thailand, held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta, the match ended 2-2 after extra time. Indonesia secured the championship by winning 4-2 in a penalty shootout, with Audero making a decisive save against Thailand's Nattapong Sayriya.

San José expressed satisfaction with Audero's rapid adaptation to the Spanish club after joining on loan from Como 1907 during the summer 2026 transfer window. Despite initially serving as a substitute, the 29-year-old has since made three appearances in LaLiga against Real Madrid, Espanyol, and Osasuna. The coach noted that adjusting to a new competitive environment quickly is a difficult task and expects the goalkeeper to continue his development.
