Emil Boc proposes integration tests for non-EU workers

Emil Boc, the mayor of Cluj-Napoca and former Romanian Prime Minister, has called for national discussions regarding the integration of non-EU workers. Speaking at a debate organized by the PPE in Bucharest, Boc noted that there are over 20,000 individuals from non-EU countries living in Cluj-Napoca.

Boc expressed concerns that a lack of understanding regarding the Romanian language, culture, and social behaviors is creating issues within the community. To address this, he proposed that the state implement mandatory basic tests for foreign workers from outside the European Union. These tests would cover basic Romanian language skills, cultural integration, and adherence to national rules to protect community quality of life and prevent political dissatisfaction.

Additionally, Boc advocated for efforts to encourage Romanian citizens working abroad to return home, suggesting that the country should focus on integrating European workers who share a similar cultural and mental mindset.
