Emil Hansson cites mental health struggles for Real Zaragoza contract termination

Swedish footballer Emil Hansson has revealed that mental health struggles led him to terminate his two-year contract with Real Zaragoza after only six weeks. The 28-year-old, a former Feyenoord talent, explained that he felt something was wrong and sought help after experiencing extreme fatigue and anxiety.

Hansson attributed his struggles to a period of instability in his career involving frequent moves, which prevented him from building connections with teammates or cities. He noted that while money is important, happiness is more vital, stating, “You cannot buy it.”

After leaving Spain, Hansson returned to Rotterdam to seek professional support. He is currently training independently and expressed a desire to return to professional football, acknowledging the need to listen to his own well-being more closely.
