Emil Madsen nears comeback for THW Kiel amid club rebuild
Danish handball player Emil Madsen is preparing for a comeback with THW Kiel following a long-term knee injury. His return coincides with a significant rebuilding phase for the German club.
THW Kiel is attempting to recover from its worst season in 23 years, which included missing out on European handball competitions for the first time in 33 years. Under new head coach Børge Lund, the club is implementing a new playing philosophy focused on increased speed, creativity, and stability. The squad has also been strengthened with several new signings.
Club chairman Kai Kruse expressed high expectations for the revamped roster, noting that the team will be difficult to beat if they remain relatively injury-free. The club's final test before the Bundesliga season begins is a match against Pick Szeged this Friday, followed by their season opener against Lemgo on August 27.
