Emil Nielsen in talks with Flensburg amid Hungarian tax changes

Danish national team goalkeeper Emil Nielsen is reportedly in negotiations with SG Flensburg-Handewitt for a potential move in the summer of 2027. Although Nielsen is currently under contract with the Hungarian club One Veszprém until 2029, a shift in Hungarian tax regulations may facilitate an earlier departure.

New tax rules scheduled for January are expected to eliminate highly advantageous tax schemes for professional athletes. Under the proposed changes, the threshold for preferential taxation is set to drop significantly, which could impact the financial flexibility of major clubs. Veszprém director József Éles has noted that these changes will have a noticeable impact on the club's financial capacity.

While some analysts suggest these changes might trigger an exodus of star players from Hungarian top clubs, others argue that the primary concern for clubs like Veszprém and Szeged is the broader budgetary uncertainty regarding future owner financing.
