Organizers of the Emil Zátopek Ostrava Golden Marathon have announced that the 2026 edition, originally scheduled for October 24, 2026, will be postponed to 2027.

The decision stems from ongoing road reconstruction projects in Ostrava and its surrounding areas. Organizers stated that the current state of the infrastructure makes it impossible to prepare a high-quality and safe marathon route. They emphasized a desire to avoid a compromised event, aiming instead to provide a professional experience that honors the legacy of Emil Zátopek.

Runners who have already paid their entry fees have two options: they may carry their registration forward to the 2027 race or request a full refund by contacting the registration email address provided by the organizers.
