Emile death investigation: DNA tests fail to identify unknown profile
Investigators in the case of the death of two-year-old Emile have reported that a recent series of DNA tests failed to produce a match. The investigation follows the disappearance of the child in July 2023 in Le Vernet and the subsequent discovery of his remains in March 2024.
Authorities conducted 106 DNA samples from individuals who were in the region at the time of the disappearance, hoping to find a match for an unknown genetic profile discovered on the child's clothing. However, no correspondence was established from this first series of comparisons.
Despite the lack of immediate results, the investigation remains active. Law enforcement is reportedly preparing a new phase of action, which may include a broader campaign of DNA sampling targeting tourists who were present in the Haut-Vernet area during July 2023.
